how to lock assignments on google classroom

As of my last knowledge update in January 2023, Google Classroom doesn't have a built-in feature to "lock" assignments in the sense of preventing students from accessing or submitting them after a certain date. However, Google Classroom does offer a method to control assignment visibility and submission deadlines. Here's how you can set due dates to control access to assignments:

Setting Due Dates on Google Classroom:

Create or Open an Assignment:

Create a new assignment or open an existing one in Google Classroom.

Fill in Assignment Details:

Enter the assignment details, including the title, instructions, and any attached files or links.

Set Due Date:

In the assignment details, locate the "Due" field. Click on it to open the date and time picker.

Choose Due Date and Time:

Select the date and time when you want the assignment to be due. Students will not be able to submit or access the assignment after this due date.

Save or Assign:

Click "Save" or "Assign" to save the assignment with the due date.

Additional Tips:

Reuse Post:

If you are reusing a post from a previous class, make sure to adjust the due date to align with the current class schedule.

View Student Work After Due Date:

Even after the due date, you can still access and view student work. Assignments are not automatically hidden from the teacher after the due date.

Google Classroom Updates:

Google Classroom features may evolve over time. Always check for updates or new features in case there are changes to the platform.

If you specifically need to restrict student access to an assignment after a certain date, you may want to include instructions in the assignment description about the deadline and remind students not to access the assignment after the due date. As of my last update, there might be additional features or changes to Google Classroom, so it's a good idea to check the official Google Classroom help resources for the most up-to-date information.
